Flora Digital Stamp and Original Ink & Watercolor
It's been a while since I updated my blog. I've been working hard on my Etsy shop for weeks (then I was sick for a week...) now in preparation for the holiday shopping season. There always seems to be more to do on top of the list of things to do. ^^; Such is life, I guess.
The day before yesterday I was finishing up these two pieces. One on the left is a commission for a client -- a Lotus Sprite with a little frog friend (4" x 6"). The other is a 5" x 7" piece that I originally started in spring at one of the Sketch Fest events. Sketch Fest is fun to participate, but if one is not careful (and disciplined), it's amazing how quickly a stash of half-done sketches grows out of control. Then they just sit on the shelf like unfinished homework. I cannot say that I like that feeling. I feel a compulsive need to finish the piece that I start. XD Well the lines were finished then scanned and process for digital stamps to be listed at my shop (http://www.Etsy.com/shop/AuroraWings). "Flora" digital stamp is here. https://www.etsy.com/listing/163718316/digital-stamp-instant-download-flora?ref=shop_home_active
Then yesterday, I was able to color "Flora". It started out as "Flower Fairy" to the prompt "hair of flowers" or something similar. And since it was spring, I was envisioning pinks and greens, but now that it is fall and the leaves are starting to change colors, I was more in the mood for a muted color scheme. I like the way this turned out though. I bet it would look beautiful in a gold frame. :D
The original is available at my Etsy shop. https://www.etsy.com/listing/163825803/original-art-flora-flower-goddess-in?ref=shop_home_active
I'm hoping to have several more original illustrations of this size and some that are around 8" x 10" for the holiday season. And of course, some more original ACEOs, too. ^_^
I've been itching to get started on some polymer clay sculptures of my Flower Sprites, but I have not had the chance to get going on them yet. I'm still behind the schedule with commissions (I do feel fortunate that work keeps coming ^_^)... and there is also a large secret project that is a collaboration with another very talented multi-media artist...
UPDATE (Sept. 27, 2013): Finished the commission Lotus Sprite piece. ^_^ The camera (and for that matter, also the scanner) has a hard time accurately seeing reds and greens. The original, in person, looks so much better. : (
Oh, those are two very magnificent sketches Mitzi. Particularly the flora Digital Stamp I like very much.
