A quick color test for "Secret Kisses". I guess I haven't done a mermaid in shades of blue green. I like the way it looks. I'll stick to something very close to this for the final version. ^^
now i remember, many moons ago, a certain someone saying thatd never make any "dark art"... seems like the tides have broken and were seeing quite a few more skulls and blacks in your work haha - and they are fabulous! her raggedy fins are really great love em ^^
I guess I found my kind of 'dark' -- it's not gore and horror for the sake of shock. I found it easier to do dark stuff if I can think of some kind of story to go with the visual. But sometimes, while I'm looking at a blank piece of paper, figures just appear and I follow their contour with my pencil. This one was one of those. The concept is so radically different from what I originally envisioned when the EV theme was announced at the beginning of the month, it's kind of creepy.
*cough* not started. im still working on my large swan girl painting *exasperated* and i am actually really stuck with the theme this month :/ cute? dark? i dont know. one (or two) things at a time for now :P
You can always come back to a theme later, if a theme doesn't inspire you right away (or after quite a bit of pondering ^^; ). I've had a few that just didn't appeal to me (among the old themes that were already up there when I joined), like "The Key" and "The Locket". I'm like, "Uhhh...". And their stock photo challenge thing was totally not interesting to me. XD Good luck iwth your swan girl!
*gasps* Wooow, oh wow...just stunning work. I love the choice of colours. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Erin! ^_^
